Mobile Phones

On average, each working donated handset is worth £5 to Oxfam - but some are worth much more. Donating a Nokia 3310 for example, could enable Oxfam to provide a mosquito net to protect a child from malaria. Click the banner above for more information.

Oxfam's Sunderland branch is:

Sunderland

Furniture

There are several furniture schemes operating in the North-East which will accept unwanted furniture (which must be in reasonable condition). The furniture is distributed for charitable purposes.

Sunderland Community Furniture Services provide furniture for families and individuals who are in need. To help fund their activities they also recycle various materials including aluminium cans and aluminium foil. Aluminium foil is also collected through the local primary schools "foil recycling challenge" and from the Meals on Wheels Service, with public collection bank sites also planned. Contact Ken Whitfield at the Centre on 0191- 549 4343. They will collect furniture within about 15 miles of Sunderland.

½ tins of paint that you will never use again!

The Lazarus Foundation will recycle your paint and make it available to voluntary organisations and others with a need for paint. Tel: 0191-565 4885 9.30am - 4.30pm for details.

Be a toner donor!

Every year four million used cartridges, both toner and inkjet, end up in landfill sites. You can minimise damage to the environment and raise money for Scope - and it needn't cost you a penny!
Just two inkjet cartridges could pay for an adapted can opener. Simple alterations to kitchen utensils can really give disabled people greater freedom by helping them to cook for themselves.

How does it work? It couldn't be easier to recycle for Scope...

You can have a collection box in your workplace or home, you can recycle by freepost or take them into a Scope shop. The Sunderland branch is:

Sunderland
SR1 3BY
